This Gilbert project focused on creating a clean, durable side-yard sidewalk that made the space easier to use every day. The homeowner needed a better path from the back patio area to the side gate, with enough width and a layout that worked around the equipment line along the house.
Existing Side Yard and Layout Planning
Before the concrete work started, the side yard was mostly bare ground and grass with no finished walking surface tying the rear gate back to the house. The goal was to create a long, practical walkway with a larger landing area near the patio and equipment.

We laid out the footprint so the new sidewalk would run cleanly along the side of the house while still keeping the path functional around the AC units and utility area.

Prep, Base Work, and Forming
Once the path was defined, we refined the base, checked alignment, and formed the wider landing section that tied into the house-side access point. On projects like this, the prep matters because the finished walkway has to feel intentional, not like a strip of concrete dropped into leftover yard space.

Pour Day and Finish
With the forms and grade ready, we placed and finished the sidewalk so it would provide a smooth, durable route through the side yard. The larger landing area near the house gives the space a more usable transition point instead of forcing all the movement through a narrow strip.

Why This Sidewalk Addition Worked
This was a good example of practical flatwork improving how a property actually functions. Instead of leaving the side yard as a rough cut-through, the finished sidewalk created a clear route, a cleaner transition near the house, and a surface that will hold up much better to regular foot traffic, equipment access, and day-to-day use.
