This Gilbert project was built to extend an existing backyard patio and create a cleaner, more durable area outside the dog door. The homeowner wanted a surface that would work better for the dogs coming in and out, while also making the patio feel more complete and easier to keep clean.

Existing Patio Area

Before the work started, the area next to the existing patio was still bare dirt. That made the space less useful and gave the dogs a rougher transition in and out of the house.

Forming the Patio Extension

We laid out the extension so it tied cleanly into the existing patio and created a wider, more practical landing area outside the dog door. On a job like this, the goal is not just to add concrete. It is to make the new section look intentional and function like it belonged there from the beginning.

Wheelbarrow Placement and Pour

This was a wheelbarrow job because a concrete truck could not get direct access to the back patio area. That meant the pour had to be moved in by hand, which takes more effort and coordination but is often the reality on tighter backyard access projects.

Even on smaller pours like this, access matters. Good planning keeps the work moving and helps the final result come out clean.

Finished Patio and Dog Pad

Once the pour and finish work were complete, the homeowner had a cleaner, more usable outdoor area that gave the dogs a better transition in and out of the house while also extending the functional patio space.

Why This Scope Worked

This was a simple project with a very practical purpose. The added concrete made the patio feel more finished, improved everyday use of the yard, and created a much cleaner zone outside the dog door. It is a good example of how a relatively small patio extension can make a space more functional right away.
