About this project
This Scottsdale backyard project began with concrete footings for a motorized pergola structure. Reinforcement was placed in the footing excavations before concrete was poured. Once the footing work was ready, the crew assembled the pergola beside the pool. Its adjustable louvers open and close by remote control.
01 / Footing pour
Concrete around the reinforcement
The first stage shows concrete being placed into a footing excavation with reinforcement visible below. These footings created the foundation points for the pergola structure above.
02 / Posts
Setting the pergola structure
After the footing work, the pergola posts were set in position. The structure began to take shape beside the pool and the home's backyard living area.

This closer view shows one pergola post set on its finished concrete footing. The connection detail stays visible while the upper structure is assembled.

Bringing the structure together
With the posts in place, the horizontal frame connected the four corners. The open frame defines the pergola footprint in the backyard.

The crew continued assembling the top of the pergola. The roof system is the part that gives the finished structure its adjustable shade and weather cover.

As the upper assembly progressed, the pergola became a distinct outdoor room beside the pool. The concrete footing work remained the base for each post.

The poolside view shows the nearly completed structure in relation to the surrounding yard. Its open sides keep the view to the pool and garden clear.

The finished motorized pergola gives the backyard a defined covered area beside the pool. Its adjustable louvers can be opened or closed with a remote to suit the moment.
